A pleasant grade 2 touring paddle, dotted with lots of weirs and a notable playwave.
Heavy rain needed as much of the water is absorbed by limestone caves and the small reservoir above Clapham. The EA gauge at Wennington needs to be >0.8m for the wave to be working, is best around 1.2m but turns into a manky hole by about 1.5m
Putin in the centre of the village of Clapham, or 3.5km downstream at the bridge at Clapham station (a couple of beck join in between, so the the station putin may be better when low). Takeout on river left just below the bridge at Hornby.
