Excellent creeking run, with most of the action in one long gorge.
Rises fast after rain. Big spate is best avoided and the river is usually paddled on-the-drop. Upstream of the bridge in Lynmouth is a long stony island: scrape past and the trip is still on, comfortable float gd 4+, central rock slabs covered gd 5, with the whole island covered, too scary! Above 1.7 the lower gorge gets spicy. If the gauge is below ~1.5, it's recommended just to walk in for the gorge, rather than attempt the whole section.
Takeout in Lynmouth where the river enters the sea. Putin at Watermeet at the confluence with the Hoaroak: park on the A39 and carry down to the river.
